The most important term on this page

SpineSense is not a doctor and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. It helps you organise and understand what is going on with your spine so you can have a better conversation with a clinician who can examine you. It is not a substitute for that examination, and it cannot see the things that decide your care.

In an emergency, do not use SpineSense. Call your local emergency number or go to an emergency department. That includes sudden weakness in your legs, loss of bladder or bowel control, numbness around the groin or inner thighs, or severe pain following a fall or accident. Never delay getting seen because of anything this product tells you, and never let a reassuring result talk you out of care you were going to seek.

What the assessment actually produces

A plain-language summary of what you described, the patterns it appears to fit, and questions worth raising at your appointment. It is generated with the help of a language model working from clinical logic built by spine surgeons. Like any such system it can be wrong, and it can be confidently wrong. Treat the output as a starting point for a conversation, never as a conclusion, and tell your clinician you used it.

Who may use it

You must be 18 or over and using it for yourself. Do not enter another person’s health information without their permission, and do not use the product to assess someone else as though they were you, because the result will be wrong in ways neither of you can see.

Your account

Keep your sign-in details to yourself, and turn on multi-factor authentication if you can. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has your account. Give us accurate information: an assessment built on an inaccurate description is worse than no assessment, because it looks like an answer.

What you may not do

• Use SpineSense to make a decision that should be made by a clinician who has examined you, or to delay urgent care.
• Present its output as a diagnosis, a medical record, or a professional opinion, whether to an insurer, an employer, a court, or anyone else.
• Upload documents you have no right to upload, or another person’s records without their permission.
• Attempt to access another user’s information, probe or interfere with the security of the service, or use automated means to scrape it.
• Copy the education library wholesale or republish it as your own.

The education library

The articles on this site are general education, free to read and free to share a link to. They are written and reviewed by practising spine surgeons and publish the sources they are built from, and how that works is set out on the editorial standards page. They describe the typical case, which means they cannot describe yours.

Your information

How we handle what you give us is covered by the privacy policy, and health information specifically by the HIPAA notice. In short: it is not sold, it is not used for advertising, and you can ask for a copy or have it deleted.

What we do not promise

The service is provided as it is. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error free, or that any result it produces is accurate or complete for your situation. To the fullest extent the law allows, SpineSense is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of it. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Ending it

You can stop using SpineSense at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend an account that is being used in a way that breaks these terms or puts other users at risk, and we will tell you why.

Changes

We may update these terms. The effective date at the top always reflects the current version, and where a change materially affects you we will tell account holders directly rather than relying on you to notice.
